About Suncoast Chorale


Each season, the public is invited to not only come and hear the glorious sounds, but audition for singing membership as well. We rehearse Monday evenings from 6:45p.m. to 8:45p.m., and perform from late November through mid April. Roy Engler, Artistic Director

 

 

 

Roy Engler is the Artistic Director of the Suncoast Chorale. Roy had his formal education at the Eastman School of Music and Westminster Choir College. In addition to choral expertise, his distinguished background includes teaching in brass instruments and voice, performances in trumpet, voice and viola da gamba. Roy also has a 30 year career in church music. He has been director of the Princeton-Hightstown Chorale and the Marco Island Ecumenical Choir, and Music Director of the Marco Island Theater, where he directed the music in productions of 1776 and Man of La Mancha.

Roy is currently the Music Director at St. Hilary's Episcopal Church in Fort Myers, and plays viola da gamba with the Green Flash Consort, a Renaissance viol ensemble. He is also a prolific composer and arranger.

 

Mr. Engler lives in North Fort Myers with his wife, Be.

 

 

John Renfroe Accompanist

John Renfroe, Accompanist

 

John Renfroe is the accompanist for the Suncoast Chorale. Mr. Renfroe studied at Stetson University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Sacred Music. He is an Associate in Ministry (AIM) and a Consecrated Director of Music with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. With over forty years in music, he has served as rehearsal accompanist for the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus, and is the founding director of the Fort Myers Chorale. Mr. Renfroe is currently an Associate in Ministry at Messiah Lutheran Church in North Fort Myers.
